Grade 4 Evaluation & Assessment Evaluation is a continuous and on-going process, taking in all aspects of growth. A variety of sources are used to assess a student’s progress. (See list below for examples). Students in-class work samples, group work, impromptu assessments, individual verbal conferencing, projects, etc. will be evaluated using the Newfoundland And Labrador English School Districts report card scale of 1-4. Some work samples will be sent home for parents/caregivers to review, sign and return to school in a designated portfolio. (PLEASE ENSURE they are returned each time as I use them yearly....thanks!) All daily work in the classroom are considered extremely valuable and are important for assessment purposes. Children are encouraged to strive for their best at all times.
Sources for evaluation & assessment: - participation in group discussions - daily observations - oral presentations - completion of tasks - student/teacher conferences/interviews - rubrics - in-class projects - work samples (daily in-class assignments) - checklists/jot notes - behavior during both structured/unstructured times - ability to carry out responsibilities - anecdotal records (short descriptions of classroom observations)
